Hundreds of Muslims gathered at Mumyuka Playground in Kayunga Town Council for Eid al-Fitr prayers, giving thanks to Allah for successfully completing the holy month of Ramadan.
During the ceremony, Sheikh Yunusu Kafuuna, the district Amir, urged believers not to limit their practice of Islam to fasting periods but to make it a routine part of daily life.
“I encourage you to stick to the norms of the Muslim faith. This month is just a reminder of what all Muslims should uphold at all times, even after fasting, and remember that this is a month of renewal,” Sheikh Kafuuna said.
He emphasized that Eid is more than a celebration—it is a day of spiritual reflection and gratitude, reminding Muslims to carry forward good habits developed during Ramadan, including prayer, patience, and kindness.
Sheikh Kafuuna also encouraged the giving of Zakat al-Fitr, stressing that it ensures the less fortunate can participate in the celebrations while purifying one’s fast and reinforcing compassion and unity.
He further called on the community to use Eid gatherings to promote togetherness, forgiveness, reconciliation, and love, describing the day as a “fresh spiritual beginning” and a “new page” in believers’ faith journey.
Eid al-Fitr in Kayunga, therefore, was both a festive celebration and a spiritual checkpoint, encouraging Muslims to continue their path of worship and good conduct beyond the holy month.
